چکیده
The focus of this review is on the physical and magnetic properties that are related to efficiency monometallic nanoparticles used in biomedical applications, such as resonance imaging (MRI) or nanoparticle hyperthermia, how model these by theoretical methods, where discussion based example cobalt nanoparticles. Different simulation systems (cluster, extended slab, models) critically appraised for their efficacy determination reactivity, behaviour, ligand-induced modifications relevant properties. Simulations effects nanoscale alloying with other metallic phases also briefly reviewed.

Effects of Metallic Nanoalloys on Dye Fluorescence
Metallic nanoparticles (NPs) are exploited for their ability to interact with organic compounds and to increase significantly the fluorescence intensity and the photostability of many fluorescent dye molecules. Metal enhanced fluorescence (MEF) is therefore widely investigated for biosensing applications. When used in immunoassays, silver island films (SIFs) could augment the fluorescence inten...
متن کاملMagnetic Nanoparticles: Surface Effects and Properties Related to Biomedicine Applications
Due to finite size effects, such as the high surface-to-volume ratio and different crystal structures, magnetic nanoparticles are found to exhibit interesting and considerably different magnetic properties than those found in their corresponding bulk materials. These nanoparticles can be synthesized in several ways (e.g., chemical and physical) with controllable sizes enabling their comparison ...

Nanobiotechnology appears to be an emerging science which leads to new developments in the field of medicine. Importance of the magnetic nanomaterials in biomedical science cannot be overlooked. The most commonly used chemical methods to synthesize drugable magnetic nanobeads are co-precipitation, thermal decomposition and microemulsion. However monodispersion, selection of an appropriate coati...
متن کاملMetallic influence on the atomic structure and optical activity of ligand-protected nanoparticles: a comparison between Ag and Au.
Using time-perturbed density functional theory the optical activity of metal-thiolate compounds formed by highly symmetric Ag and Au nanoparticles (NPs) and a methyl-thiol molecule is studied after performing atomic optimizations and electronic calculations upon adsorption. Many different sites and orientations of the adsorbed molecule on icosahedral Ag and Au NPs of 55 atoms are considered. Up...
